Georgia Genealogical Society – Booth 524

April 26th, 2017 by National Genealogical Society Blog Editor

Established in 1964, the Georgia Genealogical Society (GGS) is a non-profit volunteer organization comprised of over 700 members from around the United States. We publish the Georgia Genealogical Society Quarterly and are excited to be the new host for the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research (IGHR) to be held this July in Athens, Georgia.

GGS is an active society proud to offer monthly webinars as part of our mission to raise the standards of genealogical research through education. Our webinars are free to both members and non-members when watched live. (Registration is required as attendance is limited to the first 500 people.) GGS membership provides access to past webinars and relevant handouts. GGS members also have access to archived issues of the Georgia Genealogical Society Quarterly.

Our newsletter The Scribe is published four times a year and available online in PDF format for everyone to view, including non-members. It contains information regarding GGS meetings, activities, short articles, and topics of interest to genealogists. We invite you to review past newsletters to gain a sense of what the Georgia Genealogical Society offers members. Past issues of The Scribe are available at

Our membership is not exclusive to Georgia residents or to individuals with Georgia ancestry. GGS membership is for anyone interested in learning about genealogy and preserving Georgia’s records. We invite you to join the Georgia Genealogical Society and hope you’ll swing by our booth (#524) at the upcoming NGS conference to say hello! You can learn more about GGS at, or find us on Facebook (Georgia Genealogical Society) and Twitter (@gagensociety).
