Moving On: Sessions and Speakers

February 9th, 2017 by National Genealogical Society Blog Editor

We’ve had a lot of fun on the blog in the last month talking about the great tours and research venues around Raleigh which are going to be part of the NGS 2017 Family History Conference experience.

But the real reason you’re coming to the NGS Conference in Raleigh is to LEARN, right? To educate yourself in becoming a better researcher…and you’ve thought about what that means, haven’t you? Because in the immortal words of Lewis Carroll, “If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there.” And your conference experience is too valuable to take just “any road.”

Over the next several weeks, we’ll be highlighting some of the sessions which all of our speakers have worked so hard to prepare and present to you. Take an hour, sit down with the conference registration brochure and a pencil, and circle the ones that interest you. Then go back and match those against the skills you want to improve and the areas you need to learn more about.

Finally, surprise yourself! Attend a session with a speaker you’ve never heard of, or a topic you think you have little interest in. It’s amazing what you can learn, and I promise you will take something useful away from every session.
