Welcome!

November 9th, 2016 by National Genealogical Society Blog Editor

Welcome to the NGS 2017 Family History Conference blog. I’m Jean Andrews, your blog editor. It’s great to meet you! I wanted to introduce myself and tell you a few things about the blog.

I’m a Certified Genealogist® in South Carolina. I’ve served NGS as a volunteer member of the Board of Directors for seven years. I’ve personally attended six NGS conferences, and can speak to the value of each one of them in building both skills and knowledge of research methods and records.

Here is where you will be find the latest news regarding the conference. We’ll communicate important conference news and information that you need to know. Things like deadlines, announcements about the Conference App and Program, and more.

My goals as blog editor are to keep you informed and build excitement about the conference in Raleigh, North Carolina in May 2017. In addition to news, we’ll be posting about the “Three R’s” – Resources, Repositories, and Records. Resources include speakers, lecture topics, and tips to improve your conference experience. Repositories might cover libraries, archives, and collections. Records could discuss their use, location, and availability. In short, things that will help you be a better researcher and conference attendee!

One more thing – the conference blog is an information only resource. We won’t have comments on the blog both to eliminate spam postings (which nobody wants) and to maintain a reasonable workload for your volunteer editor.

Please subscribe to the blog so you don’t miss a post!
