James M. Beidler has been Executive Director of the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania on two occasions. For more than a quarter century, he’s written “Roots & Branches,” a weekly blog and newspaper column. He has written four commercially published books on genealogy, including The Family Tree Historical Atlas of Germany and The Family Tree Historical Newspapers Guide. Beidler is also the family history columnist for German Life magazine, has sat on the Pennsylvania State Historic Records Advisory Board, is currently on the board of the Lutheran Archives Center at Philadelphia.
