Now that we’re four years past the initial COVID lockdowns, most genealogists (experienced and aspiring) are familiar with Zoom; those who participated in any of the major U.S.-based institutes after January 2020 certainly know it well and, in most cases, have become adept at using various tools provided on the platform.
It was helpful to have the same people repeat hosting duties during those first few years while most participants learned their way around, but given the number of people who have honed similar skills since 2020, we’ve decided to start anew with GRIP 2024, providing a level playing field for all who feel ready, willing and able.
This isn’t to say previous Zoom hosts can’t apply; all applications will be thoughtfully considered.
The perks:
- Tuition refund for your virtual course
- GRIP-specific training
- Priority registration for GRIP 2025
Important dates:
- Applications open: 15 April (link will appear in the GRIP newsfeed that day)
- Applications close: 30 April
- Decision notifications (either way): 15 May
- Training: Saturday, 01 June (attendance required)
- Pre-GRIP meeting: Saturday, 15 June (attendance required)
Think you’re one of the Zoom hosts we’re looking for? Super! Register and pay for the course of your choice, then follow up with the host application when the form opens.
We can’t wait to welcome you to the GRIP family!
* Pre-registration allows you to select and pay for a course before registration opens to the public. It does not include Zoom hosting responsibilities or tuition credit for 2025.
